My Hair Donation Story

Posted by Raminta Sorokin on

From a young age, I had long hair. I did some highlights but never dyed my whole hair. Before my pregnancy, I had long hair. During and after my pregnancy, I never went to the hair salon. When it was time for me to return to work in 2021, I decided to cut it shorter. As you can see in the picture, it was very long at that point. I think it was the longest my hair had ever been.

I knew I needed to cut quite a lot, and I couldn't just throw that much hair away. So I started to search for places where I could donate it. I live in Sweden, and through my search, I found the Little Princess Trust. Since I had my own little girl, I just knew that was the right choice. I read the requirements and asked my friend, who is a hairdresser, to cut it for me. It was about 42 cm long and weighed 88 g.

@raminta_art If you want to cut your long hair short- please donate them! Check requirements before you cut them! #hairdonation #longhair #fyp ♬ It's a sad piano solo song(980592) - wiMu by Sho in Audiostock

In 2022, my second girl was born. In 2024, when my hair was long enough for another donation, I did it again. This time, I went to a hair salon. The minimum requirement is 30 cm. This time, my hair was 33 cm long and weighed 120 g. The first cut was longer but thinner; the second was shorter but thicker. I'm so grateful for my girls, that I just felt it was right to give something back.

@raminta_art I donated my hair for the second time this year. The first time was in 2021 (42 cm), and the second time was in 2024 (33 cm). I chose the Little Princess Trust. #hairdonation #longhairtoshorthair #littleprincesstrust ♬ Positive Vibes - Soundbeaver

If you are thinking about cutting your hair short, please consider donating it. Before cutting, make sure to read the requirements. If you are considering donating to the same place where I did, read more information on their website.
